WASHINGTON D.C.

4th of February 2020

Dear Friends:

I still have a pleasant taste from my visit to the Hotelfachschule Heidelberg last January, where I had the opportunity to see the evolution of this magnificent institution since my first visit 20 years ago on the occasion of the 1999 EURHODIP International Conference. The reunion with my dear colleague, Rector Martin Dannenmann, his wife, and Professor Ursula Hummel was very nice.

We had time to remember the initiatives and meetings that we have shared over the years. We also remember the work of Mrs. Muller who created these links. Thank you for your invitation.

The effective work of activating the model of our titles, entrusted to Henri Magne and his team, have paid off. This week, on February 6th and 7th, they will meet in Vatel Lyon, under the hospitality of Alain Sebban, with our secretary, Guilhaume García, in order to add the final touches to the EURHODIP Qualifications.

They will then be submitted to the BoD and all the members of the Association. Then, we may open the 2020 announcement for all our schools, universities, students, and alumni who wish to opt to enrich their curriculum vitae with such certifications; which will qualify the proliferated and reputed relationship of titles of our various institutions.

The EURHODIP 2020 magazine is being finalized thanks to your collaborations. These interesting contributions that you have presented ratify me in the idea that we can think of being a bimonthly magazine specialized in its kind. I want you to share with us the initiatives that occur to you in respect.

We observe that in the globalization of the problems of training for tourism and hospitality there are many nuances whose knowledge can help us improve each of us. I have always said that in the Association we are to copy the good and to help each other without the subterfuge of jealousy. To innovate, you must know what others do differently and try to improve upon it.

We have been present at FITUR in Madrid from January 22nd to 26th. Our calendars and many of our brochures have been distributed by hand. Both Peter Maliszewski and Stephan Pityukov have explained to the curious what we are and do in EURHODIP. We will also try to be at ITB Berlin from March 4th to 8th. These are direct actions that have an impact on the visibility of our Association and the effectiveness of our work.

We are still awaiting the date of our meeting in Brussels with the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth, Mariya Gabriel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIZeWAEveGQ) who has promised to receive us in March. In this interview we are going to ask for the referendum of the European authority of our international diplomas; The same we have done with the UNWTO.

Congratulations to the Rector Vladimir Filippov and his Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) in Moscow for its 60th Anniversary that will be celebrated this February 7th and 8th, regretting that I will not be able to attend due to agenda complications.

As you can see, this president and his EB are loaded with projects that every month we try to give life. This letter is a simple communication. I hope it arouses your interest.  Do not hesitate to cooperate with us. Your contribution makes us stronger and more effective.

Cordially,

Luis de Lezama

EURHODIP President
